Doorcut
Content and conduct policy
Last updated 5 September 2026
Doorcut is used by people who let a stranger into their home, and by professionals who walk into one. Both sides are owed the same thing: that what they see in the app is what they came for, and that somebody will act when it is not.
What is not allowed
Anywhere you can post — a photo, a review, a message, a profile:
- Nudity or sexual content.
- Violence, threats, or anything that makes somebody fear for their safety.
- Harassment, bullying, or hatred directed at somebody for who they are.
- Illegal goods or services.
- Somebody else’s photograph, or a photograph of somebody who has not agreed to it being posted.
- Attempts to take the booking or the payment off Doorcut, which removes every protection either side has.
- Anything that is not what it claims to be: a stock photo presented as your own work, or a review of an appointment that did not happen.
What happens when something is reported
A reported photo on a review or in a message is hidden immediately, before anybody has looked at it, and stays hidden until somebody has. That is deliberate and it is not a judgement about the person who posted it. A photo hidden by mistake costs somebody a picture for a day; a photo that should not be visible could be seen by anyone, including a child. Those are not comparable, so they do not wait for the same amount of certainty.
A photo in a professional’s gallery is not hidden automatically. Every professional on Doorcut has verified their identity and been approved by a person before taking a single booking, and their gallery is the shopfront they built. We tell them and we look at it, and we remove it if it breaks this policy — but one report from a stranger does not take down a working business’s page. Reviews and messages come from anybody who has had an appointment, which is a different thing.
We look within 24 hours and either put the photo back or leave it down. If somebody has broken this policy we remove what they posted, and where it is warranted we remove their access to Doorcut.
Reported writing is not hidden automatically. A reported review or message is read by a person first. Most reported writing is a disagreement rather than a danger, and letting anybody hide somebody else’s words on demand would be worse than the problem.
A review’s rating stands even if its photo is hidden. The picture and the rating are separate claims, and a hidden photo says nothing about whether the review was honest.
If it was your photo
We tell you when one of your photos is reported, whether or not anything happened to it, and we do not tell you who reported it. If you think it was a mistake, reply to us and say so — that is an appeal, and it is read by a person.
Blocking
You can block somebody from the app at any time, and it does not wait on us. Blocking stops new bookings and messages between you, and hides them from your app. What was already said stays in the conversation, because it is the record.
Reporting
There is a way to report a provider, a review, a message, a photo, or a person from inside the app. Reporting there tells us which booking it was about, which is most of what we need in order to act — so use it in preference to email where you can.
Reporting somebody in bad faith, or to gain an advantage over a competitor, is itself a breach of this policy.
If you are in immediate danger, call emergency services first. We are an app; they are not.
